Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be a Wayne or Maine resident to become a member?

You do not need to be a resident of Wayne to join the Androscoggin Yacht Club.

What is the cost/benefit to membership, and what tiers are there?

A $55.00 Individual Membership entitles the individual to the following privileges and benefits of membership by the individual only: use of the beach, docks, rowboat dock, a club rowboat, the clubhouse and grounds (subject to the policies of the club concerning access to and use of the clubhouse and rental for private parties and functions at an additional fee), swimming lessons and sailing lessons (at an additional fee).

A $95.00 Family Membership entitles the individual applicant and the applicant’s spouse and dependent children to the privileges and benefits described in the Individual Membership. Family Membership does not extend membership privileges and benefits to any other family members.  An adult must accompany children under 12 at all times.

Do I have to own a boat?

You do not need to own a boat.

Can I obtain a boat mooring?

Please note that an AYC membership does not entail the provision of a mooring. The AYC does not own, operate or service moorings.

Can I have guests?

The Androscoggin Yacht Club does allow members to bring guests to the clubhouse and beach. Members are asked to accompany their guests.

Are there restroom facilities?

The clubhouse does have two restrooms, one is handicapped-accessible.

Can I bring my dog to the beach?

The club does not allow dogs on the beach. We ask that club members help monitor this for both sanitary and safety reasons.

Can I bring a picnic lunch/dinner to the beach?

A picnic lunch or dinner can be enjoyed on the beach, at the picnic table area, or in the club’s screened in porch area. We do ask that no glass or breakable materials be brought to the beach for safety reasons. Also, there are no trash cans located on the beach so we ask that what you carry in, you carry out.

Is there parking available?

The Androscoggin Yacht Club leases a lot from an adjoining landowner for club members to park their vehicles.  We do ask that members not park in the turnaround area, because the turnaround is needed for boat owners to back their boats down to the water. Also, the club does have several neighbors and we ask that their driveways or access roads not be blocked.

Is there a place where I can have a cookout?

The Club does provide a grilling area and members may bring charcoal for a BBQ. There are also 2 picnic tables with easy access and visibility to the beach area.  Members may also bring a gas grill if they wish.

How long can I park my boat at the dock?

The dock can usually accommodate 3-4 boats at one time. We do ask that you limit tie ups to no more than 30 minutes.

Who do I contact if I see something at the club or beach that may need attention?

Please feel free to contact a member of the Androscoggin Yacht Club Board. Their names and telephone numbers are posted on the bulletin board located right inside the door.

Is there a lifeguard on duty?

The Androscoggin Yacht Club does not have a lifeguard on duty. We ask that parents watch their children closely and not allow their children to swim near the boat ramp or on the outside area of the dock where boats pull in.
